Electricity transmission poles are the key products produced by REF to facilitate the electrification of the rural areas of Zimbabwe. The wood poles are produced by REF’s subsidiary company Hotspeck Enterprises at Nyakamete Industrial site in the Eastern Border City of Mutare. The pole plant is a fully computerized state of the art autoclave machinery. This makes it a unique pole treatment plant in Africa and Zimbabwe in particular. The plant has the capacity to produce about 20 000 poles per year. REF consumes 20 percent and the rest are for sale in the local and regional market. Wood poles produced range from 9 to 12 metres required in the electricity industry. In addition to electricity transmission poles, Hotspeck Enterprises as diversified operations to produce cross arms and bot roofing and fencing poles.
